Content Browser

The Content Browser is a Web Admin feature that lets you set up and manage your website’s content. It contains all the necessary tools and features you’ll need to help you develop content-rich HTML pages.

To open your site’s Content Browser, click the Website tab and select Content Explorer.

The Content Browser is divided into two screens: The left screen gives you a list of available directories. You can click on the available folders to view the files contained inside.

The right screen on the other hand, gives you access to the files contained in the folder or directory you selected such as your website’s content pages (.aspx), images, and other documents.

Adding a Folder

The left section of the Content Browser lets you create folders and sub-folders to organize your website’s files. The Root directory folder by default is already set in place. All other folders that will be created will be placed within the Root folder.

To create a new main folder, click the Root directory and select the New Folder button (+) at the top left portion. A window will open asking you to type the folder’s name. Creating a sub-folder can also be done the same way. However, instead of clicking the Root folder, you’ll need to select the main folder where you want the sub-folder to be stored.

Aside from adding a folder, this section gives you the capability to edit the name of an existing folder or to delete a folder from your record. To edit a folder, click the Rename Folder button (folder with a pencil icon) and to remove a folder, select the Delete Folder button beside it.

Remember that when it comes to managing your website’s content, it is recommended that you keep your HTML pages in a folder that’s separate from your image and PDF files. This will make it easier for you to manage and organize your files.

Managing Your Content Browser Files

As mentioned earlier, the right section of your Content Browser displays the files contained in the directory/folder you selected. In this section, you’re able to add a new web page, upload files, edit an existing web page, rename a page, and delete a webpage.

New File

The New File button allows you to create a new webpage. Once selected, it will bring up the Content Editor screen.

The Content Editor is where you can customize and design your web pages. It sports a user-friendly interface making it easy for you to get things done quickly.

The Content Editor allows you to design your webpage in an easy-to-use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get Format) or by hard-coding your HTML codes. All these can be accessed through the Content section of the editor.

To create a new page, type its name in the FileName field. In the Page Title field, type the title of the page. Aside from helping identify your page, a Page Title can be used to optimize your website as well.

The Content Editor also offers different Page Templates which you can use to customize the look of your website. Simply choose what type of Page Template you think will fit your current need.

You also have the option to add an SEO description and multiple keywords to help drive traffic into your website. Once you’re done creating your web page, click the Save & Close button to save your work.

Upload File

The Upload File button gives you the ability to upload files into a specific directory. Files that you can upload include images (.jpg, .png), Word documents, PDFs, Flash videos (.swf), MP3s, and movie files.

If you need to upload a file, open the folder where you want to put the file in.

Click the Upload File button to search your computer for the file you want to upload. Click the file to save it in the directory you selected.

Edit File

The Edit File button lets you open an existing web page (.aspx) and make changes to its content. To edit a particular HTML page, just click the Edit File button. For more on editing your page’s content, the editing feature is explained in detail in the content editing section.

Rename Item

The Rename Item feature enables you to change your web page’s name. It’s convenient since it eliminates the need for you to create a new page or upload the same file into the Content Editor. Just select the file you want to rename and click the Rename Item button to put in your changes.

Preview Item

The Preview Item option allows you to preview your website’s .aspx page without having to open it using the Content Editor. This is best used if you simply want to view a page without making any changes to it. The Preview page is also non-editable preventing any accidental or erroneous changes from being made to the web page being previewed.

Delete Item

The Delete Item button is used to delete a page or a particular file in your Content Browser. Once you select a file to be removed, a message prompt will check whether you are sure about deleting that file. Keep in mind that once a file is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Once you’re decided, click the OK button to delete the file.
