ECommerce - Product Attributes - Adding/Editing A Child Product Attribute

The Child Product attributes help differentiate your selection of items found under the same Parent Product from each other. To create and add an attribute, look for the Parent Product you created and open its profile. Click the Attributes tab to display a list of your Child Products and their corresponding attributes.

The tab also lets you select the Attribute Name and Attribute Value for your Child Products. This can be seen in the Correlations window at the bottom portion of the Attributes tab.

Creating A New Attribute

Even though the system offers a set of ready-to-use attributes, there might be some that won’t be compatible with the product you’re offering. This will require you to create a new attribute. To create one, start by clicking on the Create New Attribute(s)… button located under the Child Products window.

This will bring up the Attribute Maintenance screen. This window allows you to enter an attribute and its corresponding value. It also lets you modify your attributes in case you need to make any changes to them.

Keep in mind that you are not allowed to have duplicate attributes of the same name/type. So if you’ve created and used an attribute for t-shirt size, you can’t use the same attribute for the same Child Product again.

In the Attributes window, type in the Code and Name of your new attribute. The Code will serve as your Attribute Name which you can see when you click on the Attribute Name menu. The Name you entered on the other hand will appear in the menu options of your Parent Product Page.

In the Attributes Values window, key in the Value and its corresponding Description. You can assign more than one Value per attribute. Whatever data you entered in the Value field can be seen on the Parent Product page.

Once you’ve created your attributes, you can now assign them to your Child Products. Go to the Correlation window found in your Product Profile page and select the attribute you created from the Attribute Name drop-down menu. Be sure to select its corresponding value from the Attribute Value drop-down menu as well. Click the Save button to attach your desired attribute to your Child Product.

The new attribute will then appear in the Child Product Attributes window, along with the other attributes you’ve assigned to the product.

In case you need to remove an attribute that you assigned, simply select that attribute and click the Delete button.
