ECommerce - Store Management - Category Browser
The Category Browser gives you access to the different categories, sub-categories, and products that are currently available in your website’s product catalog. This feature enables you to view and customize your categories and sub-categories to suit your need. It also lets you add items found in your catalog to each category manually.
To access the Category Browser, open your Web Admin’s ECommerce tab and select Store Management then click the Category Browser link.
The Category Browser window displays a variety of sections and features to help you configure your product catalog and its categories.
The left window gives you a list of your website’s main and sub-categories that form part of your catalog. Clicking a category or sub-category will give you access to the list of items under it. This listing will appear on the right section of the page.
The left Category Browser section also contains the Show Hidden and Show Deleted checkboxes.
The Show Hidden checkbox displays all the hidden product items once it’s been checked. The Show Deleted checkbox on the other hand, will display the categories that have been removed from the list.
The right Category Browser window on the other hand displays the product items under the Category that was selected. When you click on a product, the following details about the item will be displayed at the bottom of the screen:
- Product ID
- Product SKU
- Product Name
- Description
- Product Image
Among the four, only the Product Name and Description can be edited here.
Export to Excel
The Category Browser also has an export to Excel feature that lets you export your category’s product listing and save it as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
To export a product list, just click the Export to Excel button found beside the Show Deleted and Show Parent checkboxes.
Show Deleted and Show Parent
The Category Browser provides you with two added options to configure what you want to display in the product list window - Show Deleted and Show Parent.
Show Deleted displays the products you deleted from the list while the Show Parent displays only the Parent products and removes child products from the list.
Adding a Category Image
The Category Browser also gives you the capability to add an image to each category. All you have to do is to click the Select Image button beside the image box and choose the image you want to upload from your computer. If you wish to change the image you used, just click the Clear Image button to remove it from the image box.
As a precaution, make sure that the file size of the image you plan to upload isn’t that big. An image which has a big file size can affect the performance of the page by causing it to load slowly.
Category Name and Description
The Category Browser gives you the option to edit the name of your category through the Category Name field. It also lets you add a description which will be displayed on the category page.
Add Product Items
The Category Browser gives you the option to manually add items to each of your available product categories. Just click the Add Item button located at the right section of the website to bring up the Add Store Products window.
The Add Store Products window displays a list of all available products in your website’s product catalog. Select the product you want to add and click the Add button to include the item in the category you’ve chosen.
Category Profile
The Category Profile lets you customize the category pages of your product catalog. Through this feature, you can add HTML content and images as well as optimize each page to improve its online visibility and search engine ranking.
To access the Category Profile, click the Open button found on the right section of the website.
This will bring up the Category Edit section. Similar to your Content Editor, this feature lets you add content to your product list page. You can layout your content using HTML and CSS to make it more attractive and presentable to your customers.
