ECommerce - Store Management - Category Browser - Category Profile

The Category Profile gives you the capabilities to edit and manage your product categories. It allows you to do three things: add content, define a product category’s status, hide it from your catalog, sort its order and perform online optimization.

To access the Category Profile, go to your Category Browser and select the category you want to access. Click the Open button located at the right section of the website to open that category’s profile.

The Category Profile displays a Preview window which shows the content you’ve added to the category you’ve chosen. It also displays other data including its System State, Status and whether it’s Hidden or not.

To add content or make any changes to the category’s details, click the pencil icon found on the top right section of the page. This will open the Category Edit window.

The Category Edit window displays the Name and Description of the selected category. It has three sections:

Content

The Content section is where you can add text and images which will then be displayed on the category’s page. Similar to IBOS’ Content Explorer, it contains a variety of tools which you can use to edit your category’s content, including its design and layout.

It also features a Design and HTML view giving you the option to make changes in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) format or by using HTML and CSS.

Details

The Details section allows you to configure the settings of the category you’ve chosen. In this section, you have the option to keep the category’s hierarchy and its name synced. You can also set whether you want the category to be seen or not in your catalog by unchecking or checking the Hidden checkbox.

Lastly, the Details section let’s you determine the system state of the category. You can select whether you want the category to remain Active, if you want it Archived, or if you want to have it permanently Deleted.

SEO Fields

The SEO Fields section allows you to optimize your category pages to improve its search engine ranking online. It lets you put in the basic SEO information including Page Title, Description, and keywords. For more details on how to use this feature, you can also check out the in-depth SEO Fields Help File.

Changes made to any of the three sections can be saved by clicking on the Disk icon found at the top right corner of the screen.
